I came across an well written article which points out the obvious- lack of innovation coming from India and some suggestions to remedy it. A lot of it is common sense- energy, transportation, education etc. But one point made in a comment caught my eye. It talked about our religions and allow me to quote:
"...The concept of consumerism and materialism is foreign to Indian religions such as Vedism/Sanatam Dharma, Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism. Where there is no want, there is no need to innovate or create."
Very interesting! Reminds me of "Greed is good" - Gordon Gekko. :)
But this stereotype is so common even in Bollywood- rich guy is greedy tyrant while poor has the ideals. City guy is slick, farmer is rustic and innocent. Time to get rid of these notions.
